Get Entertained at Manchester Airport this Summer

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

image1619428431.jpgPassengers flying out of Manchester’s terminal one this summer will be entertained by the holiday operator Thomas Cook.

Four entertainers employed by the operator will do magic tricks and sing for passengers waiting to check in to their flight. This will be ongoing until September 3rd. The entertainers should be easy to spot because they’ll be in orange and blue uniforms.

The Managing Director of Manchester Airport Andrew Cornish stated that they wanted passengers to have a good time whilst passing through the airport.

Luton Airport to charge £2 for Using Trolleys!

Extra Charge to Just Push Your Luggage Around

Luton Airport Luggage Trolley Charges

Luton Airport Luggage Trolley Charges

Luton airport has come in for some critisism lately for charging travellers £2 for the use of baggage trolleys. As stated in a few articles travellers are maybe use to airlines adding on extra charges, especially the low cost airlines, but getting stung by an airport now seems to be the last straw.

£2 doesn’t seem to be that much but I guess it might be the principle of the matter which will possibly see more familys pulling their luggage behind them instead of using a trolley.

Bristol airport has also upped its trolley charges from £1 to £2 and now Cardiff airport are talking about doing the same.

Actually it maybe unfare to blame Luton airport directly because all charge increases have come direct from the airports trolley operator Bagport. It has also been stated that Luton airport will not benefit from this increase, but my guess is that passengers will see it as an extra charge from the airports themselves.

Don’t get stung by airport parking charges also, compare all aspects of parking your car at Luton airport and save a fortune in the process –  Luton Airport Parking

BA On Time at Gatwick Airport

Saturday, July 24th, 2010

A recent survey has shown that British Airways is the most reliable carrier at Gatwick airport.

With 86% of it’s short haul and domestic flights departing on time BA has has rocketed itself to the top of the on time departure list. BA also finds itself of the international on time departures list with 87% of flights departing on time.

This surely will be good news for British Airways after it’s recent cabin crew disputes and quaterly profit figures.

Gatwick Airport Gets £1 Billion Investment

Monday, July 19th, 2010

image731663257.jpgGatwick airport has recently received £1billion of new investment from it’s American owners Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).

The new investment will see a new multi million pound extension being built to the North Terminal. Passengers will also be able to use the new Inter Terminal Shuttle which has been financed by GIP.

In fact according to a Gatwick airport official virtually the whole of the airport will see an improvement over the next two years.

Nobody was able to say for sure if part of the money was possibly being sidelined for a second runway… but that is a totally different story!

Jet2 at Leeds Bradford Airport

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

image1389676950.jpgDoes anybody else get the feeling that Jet2 seem to be taking over Leeds Bradford airport.
Don’t get me wrong I like Jet2 and they offer a great service for northerners when flying out to ski in winter.

Jet2 also have great prices, they also seem to cover half of the departures hall at LBA!

Manchester Airport Cars Parks to Install More Security Cameras

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

image1143824154.jpgMany of the car parks at Manchester airport are to install new security cameras to hopefully catch parking charges dodgers.

According to the airport itself some drivers are tailgating other cars when exiting via the security barrier to avoid parking charges.

Manchester airport stated that in a one hour period they counted 27 drivers doing exactly this.

They plan to add cameras with Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) functionality, which will record the drivers number plate.

Luton Airport Parking – All Round Choices

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

The different choices for Luton Airport Parking have increased quite a lot in the past five years or so. Not just in the amount of car parks but also in the different types of car parking available.

Car parking at Luton airport can be split up into three main categories, they are:

Valet Parking – turn up at the car park, check in at the reception and your car is parked for you. With this option your car keys are kept by the car park.

Self Park – turn up at the car park and simply park your car yourself. This option is generally available at most ON airport car parks. With this option you keep your car keys yourself.

Meet & Greet – turn up at the departures terminal and a driver will then take your car to a secure parking compound. On your return your car will be waiting for you when you leave arrivals. You do have to inform the meet and greet company when you expect to arrive at the airport for your outward and inward journeys but this is by far the most convenient option.

It’s certainly safe to say that Luton airport has a full compliment of car parking choices.

Airparks Express at Luton Airport – Traveling Made Easier.

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

If you ever find yourself flying out of Luton airport then you might want to consider Airparks Express.

Situated a short transfer away from the airport it offers excellent security features such as CCTV, security patrols, security lighting and fencing.

However if you’re anything like me, on your return journey all you want to do is to get home as soon as possible. This is where Airparks Express comes in very handy because on your return all you do is call them once you’re collecting your suitcases and they will bring your car to arrivals.

To me this is brilliant, you just pick up your bags and away yo go home, a great service which is cheaper than meet & greet.

So the next time you’re looking for a parking space at Luton airport why not try Airparks Express Car Parking.

Manchester Airport – An Airport to Rival Heathrow or Gatwick

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010
Manchester Airport - Not Just an Airport.

Manchester Airport - Not Just an Airport.

Manchester airport certainly lives up to its reputation of being the major airport in the North of England. After personally using Manchester airport for well over ten years now I can safely say that it exceeds clients requirements.

Take for example Manchester airport hotels , there is a vast array of hotels to suit all budgets and clients types, from business travellers to large families both on the airport and off it. All hotels offer excellent transfer services and some such as the Radisson Blu are actually situated in the terminal, just a short walk to the check-in desks.

One of the great things I’ve noticed about Manchester airport is that it just seems to get better and better, by this I mean things are always evolving – new shops, restaurants and bars plus useful information points to help you find anything at all including those all important WiFi hotspots.

The whole airport seems to just flow naturaly with things placed strategically. Yes – all airports cater for their clients very well and there is nothing unique about having shops, bars etc… in a certain place, but Manchester airport seem to have just got it right.

Take for example the “Escape Lounge” in terminal 1, in there they have added a scalextric for passengers to play on and according to a Manchester airport spokeperson “it’s proving to be a big hit”, they’ve even got a Wii machine in there!

So if you find yourself at Manchester airport int he near future just take a look around and take time out to experience all that Manchester airport has to offer.
